It´s 9:45 am here, in Huacachina. A little oasis in the desert. It´s a bit of a resort... We got a room and food and a drink for 60 nuevo soles... It´s like $20 US. More than we want to spend, but at least we get to have some shade and there is internet near by. We are now just Jess and I. Jonathan, a member of our host´s familly, travelled with us for a few days, but didn´t like the heat. He´s gona go back to Canada and return when summer is gone in Peru. I find it quite hot too. I can´t wait to go in the mountains... but I sure won´t stop my trip for that!!!
Jess and I left San Miguel in Lima, on sunday. Unfortunatly, I needed gaz for my stove and couldn´t buy anything that day so I had to stay in Miraflores, still in Lima, for the night. I managed to buy what I wanted and left for Paracas, on the coast. There is a reserve there, but with very little to save!!! It´s a desert where it rains 3 to 5 minutes every 5 years or so! So not much vegetation. And absolutly no natural source of shade. We stayed one night in the town, went to visit some islands, Islands bellistas or something like that, and went for a tour of the desert. We dropped off at some touristy point and camped there for the night. Men... it was soooooooooooo hot there. We left ASAP the next day, because of the sun, but really enjoyed spending the night. Sunset was as windy as can be immagined, but the night was very still. Two more groups camped on the same small beach, which is quite popular amongst peruvians too. We annexed the tents to block the wind and Jess and I put our bags at the base of the tent... so our heads stuck out part of the night. That´s quite nice, especially when it´s possible to check out the stars at night. The milky way was fantastic. So, the first ride out available was a cab. We took it to the bus station, and took another taxi to another bus... and the bus to ica, and taxi to Huacachina... Did you all follow!!? Sometime during that, Jonathan separated from us and left for Lima. Jess and I found "la casa de arena" to stay at, and went for a walk around the lagoon. Up untill now, we bought water everyday... there are no supply of fresh water, so we´ll wait before using the water filter jade gave us. Anyways, that´s why we went for a walk! We didn´t do much after that except talk to a Jacob from Texas in Spanish. He wanted to practice speaking and so did we. We had a really good sleep and an excellent breakfast. We are thinking of staying the night in out tents, it´s about $2,5 a night per person to use a private space to pitch the tent. This way we wont rush to the next cab and the next bus... need I say more!
We'll try to keep up with news and we finaly managed to put pictures in the french message so you can check that out.
have fun!!! talk to you later
